Colors & Registration

There are various opinions on the colors of a Pug. Some opinions are that Fawn and Black are the original and only colors of purebred pugs. At MacDonald Pug Family our opinion is that Pugs can come in many different colors based on the background of each parent.  We are proud to say we were the first pug breeders to bring white pugs into Canada. Our Pugs often have the following colors; Fawn, Black, Brindle, White, Creme, Dark Brown, Silver & Apricot.

We sell our puppies as family pets and not show dogs so we do not sell them as registered puppies. We have some adults registered and others non-registered.

Food

We have always fed our puppies and adult dogs Purina food. We have recently upgraded to Purina Pro Plan which is a higher end quality.

We do not have experience with raw food so this is a personal choice with your puppy.

We recommend not changing the food for the first few months as the puppies have already made 1 change from feeding from their moms to puppy food.

Anytime a change in food is made please mix the food gradually. Generally 7 to 14 days is sufficient for the full changeover. If the stool is very soft that is an indication of changing the food too quickly.
